Utah Envirothon Advisors Workshop
Get Involved with the Utah Envirothon!
Utah Envirothon is an environmental/natural resource education program where 9th-12th grade students form teams and are tested on their knowledge of aquatic ecology, forestry, soils & land use and wildlife. This year’s current issue is Non-Point Source Pollution, Low Impact Development.
A workshop to introduce the program, or serve as a refresher course for others, is scheduled for Friday, January 6, 2012 at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. Instruction will include hands-on activities to incorporate into classroom instruction. Plan to attend beginning at 10 am until 3:30 pm, lunch included. A $10. registration fee will cover training materials and lunch.
The winning team at the Utah Envirothon (held at Zion National Park) receives an all expense paid trip to the Canon Envirothon, North America’s largest environmental education competition. This year the students will travel to Pennsylvania to compete with over 50 teams from across the US and Canada.
“I loved how well the workshop flowed this year! I liked that the presenters focused on what the actual contest would consist of. This helps me focus how I can prepare the kids.”
